FVSRA Special Olympics MedFest: The Fox Valley Special Recreation Association will host its first Special Olympics MedFest from 2 to 6 p.m. Jan. 16 in the association’s multi-purpose rooms at 2121 W. Indian Trail. MedFest provides athletes with developmental disabilities the physical exam required for participation in Special Olympics sports free of charge. Teamed with physicians from Dreyer Medical Clinic, the FVSRA MedFest strives to increase sports opportunities for those interested Special Olympics athletes in the Fox Valley area and surrounding communities. Family and caregiver support group: The National Alliance on Mental Illness DeKalb, Kane South and Kendall Counties is offering this free support group on the second Tuesday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. starting Jan. 10 at the Yorkville Congregational Church, 409 Center Parkway.
