Less than a year after opening its doors, Haley’s Playground Inc. is ready to hold its second fundraiser.
Haley’s Playground Inc., a North Aurora-based organization for children and teens with disabilities, will host its Fall Fox Trot 5K/1 Mile walk and Little Rock Stars Track and Field Event on Saturday at Oakhurst Forest Preserve in Aurora.
The run will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the walk at 9 a.m. The Little Rock Stars Track and Field events start at 10 a.m. Pre-registration at haleysplayground.com is required.
There will be a $30 fee for runners and $25 for walkers. Seniors are $15, and kids under 12 are free. The Little Rock Stars Track and Field Event will feature the kids at Haley’s Playground participating in different events.
“We are raising money so we can continue to provide equipment for the kids in special needs for the program,” said Haley’s Playground president Jackie Olson.
Haley’s Playground is an educational outreach program. Children and teens with disabilities, from Elgin to Plainfield, benefit from sensory input using a variety of gym equipment. The program provides an educational outreach for families, peers, interns and people from the community.
Haley’s Playground opened on April 6. Four days later, a run with about 250 people was held. The support the community has given the organization has been wonderful, according to Olson. She expects Saturday to have a nice turnout.
