Scarves for AID

AURORA — Anyone handy with a knitting needle or a crochet hook is invited to join the annual Scarves for AID Project. Handmade scarves, caps, mittens, socks and blankets will be collected through the end of the winter and then be made available for sale at AID facilities and at community events. Bingo at Aurora Central

AURORA — Aurora Central Catholic, 1255 N. Edge­lawn Drive, hosts bingo every Wednesday evening. Doors open at 5 p.m., concessions open at 5:30 p.m. and the early-bird raffle game begins at 6:45 p.m. Regular games begin at 7 p.m. Proceeds benefit Aurora Central Catholic High School. Keeler garage sale

AURORA — The AID Keeler Center, 409 W. New Indian Trail Court, will host its annual garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 28 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 29 at the center. The Keeler facility offers services for individuals with profound physical and mental disabilities, This yearly event is organized and put on by the staff, and all proceeds go toward AID programs and services. The Clothes Closet

BATAVIA — The Clothes Closet at the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry, 100 Flinn Drive, is seeking donations of school supplies and socks and underwear for children ages preschool through middle school. The items will be distributed to Batavia and Batavia Township families before school begins. Items may be dropped off from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, and Friday mornings. The Clothes Closet is open to clients from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday evenings; from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoons; and from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays. 630-879-3784 or www.bataviafoodpantry.org.

Summer Sunset Family Night 5K

GENEVA — The Fox River Trail Runners are hosting the 14th annual Summer Sunset Races on July 27 at Geneva Middle School South Complex, 1415 Viking Drive. There are four races for the whole family. Events begin at 6:15, 6:30, 6:45 and 7:15 p.m. Online registration is open through July 23 at www.frtr.org. Fees range from $5 through $30. www.foxrivertrailrunners.org.

Camping for Cans

KENDALL COUNTY — Cub Scouts Pack 348 and Boy Scouts Troop 48 will host a 24-hour food drive — from 10 a.m. July 23 to 10 a.m. July 24 — at Walmart, 2300 Route 34, Oswego. Nonperishable and canned food items and household supplies will be collected. Proceeds will benefit the Kendall County Food Pantry.
