Learn about a trip to Russia, explore the science of beekeeping, donate household items to a garage sale, and try your luck at a Milwaukee casino. There is always something fun for seniors to do in the Fox Valley.
Sell
Do you have items to sell? If so, consider donating them to the Oswego Senior Center (156 E. Washington, Oswego) for its second annual garage sale.
The sale will occur July 29 and 30, and the center is accepting items to be sold.
Desired items include kitchen wear (no microwaves), small appliances, small furniture, household decorations, office supplies, bikes, jewelry, toys, children’s clothes and purses.
Items can be dropped off at the center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Pickup can also be arranged.

Travel
Waubonsee Community College Trips, in conjunction with Collette Vacations, is offering an 11-day tour (including a nine-day river cruise) through Russia.
The trip is scheduled for June 2012, and an informational meeting about the trip is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at Waubonsee’s Sugar Grove Campus on Route 47.
“Russia is a fascinating country, and many of us only know how it relates to the Cold War, so this trip will be especially interesting to see what the country is all about,” said Cathy Keene, community education trips and tour developer for Waubonsee Community College.
Unlike most trips — which are by bus — this one will be entirely on boat, making it even more convienent for seniors.
“You will only have to unpack one time, and everyone will have an outdoor-facing cabin, so you can watch the scenery going by,” Keene said.
The trip will include a visit to Moscow, Red Square, Kremlin, St. Petersburg, Volga River and Kizhi Island.
“A cruise is so relaxing — I know everyone who goes will absolutely love it,” Keene said.

The Oswego Senior Center is sponsoring a trip to the Pottawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee on July 12.
Buses will pick travelers up at 9 a.m. at the center (156 E. Washington, Oswego) and drop them off at 6 p.m.
The cost is $32 per person, which includes transportation, the tip for the bus driver, snacks on the bus, and lunch.
