Rebuilding Aurora
Together dodge ball game

Rebuilding Aurora Together, which helps low-income families, will host its second fundraising Dodge Ball Tournament from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 8 and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 9 at Aurora East High School’s field house.

Organizers expect more than 1,500 participants with 60-plus teams competing over the two-day tournament.

Ron Santo Walk
to Cure Diabetes

JDRF will host its annual Ron Santo Walk to Cure Diabetes on Oct. 6, with walks scheduled throughout the Chicago area, including a 3K at St. James Farm, 2541 Winfield Road, Warrenville.

The walk goal is to raise a total of $4.2 million in support of research to find a cure for type 1 diabetes. Go to www.walk.jdrf.org to register.

Fashion show for Live
Out Loud Charity

Bounce Back Benefit
for Becky Nelson

A fundraiser to help preschool teacher Becky Nelson recover from an accident will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Kaneville Community Center, 2s101 Harter Road, Kaneville.

Becky, who is a 2004 Kaneland graduate, was struck by a car July 1 and suffered a traumatic brain injury and broken pelvis.

Kids can enjoy games, a jump house, crafts and wagon rides while their parents listen to music by Dave’s Not Here Band and DJ Ricky. Enter the bags tournament for $20.

Bears fans can participate in a raffle for the chance to win two tickets to the Bears vs. Lions game Nov. 10 at Soldier Field. Raffle tickets are available at Old Second Bank in Elburn, Kaneville or Maple Park and at the event. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.

Fall Color 5K and Kids Dash at arboretum

The Fall Color Festival at The Morton Arboretum in Lisle includes the 10th annual Fall Color 5K Run & Walk and Kid’s Dash on Oct. 6.

The 5K Run & Walk fees are $25 for members, $30 for nonmembers or $35 on race day. The Kid’s Dash costs $10 for members, $12 for nonmembers or $15 on race day. Register at mortonarb.org/fallcolor5k or in the visitor center.

Humanitarian Service Project coupon books

The nonprofit Humanitarian Service Project, with headquarters Carol Stream, is again selling the Entertainment Publications money-saving coupon books as a fundraiser for its Senior Citizen Project, which provides 122 local seniors with food. Each senior receives a monthly delivery of 100 pounds of groceries.

The booklet is $25 and also offers digital coupons. Books may be picked up in Carol Stream, LaGrange, Oswego or purchased by mail order. Call Sheri, 630-640-7382, or the Humanitarian Service Project, 630-221-8340.
