African nun addresses Serra Club: Sister Angela Osuji will speak today during the Serra Club of the Aurora Deanery’s meeting. The meeting begins with a Rosary for vocations at 11:30 a.m. in the Provena Mercy Medical Center chapel, 1325 N. Highland Ave., Aurora., followed by noon Mass, lunch and Sister Angela’s discussion of the Catholic church in Africa and her fundraising to build a church in Nigeria. North Aurora Days flea market: As part of the North Aurora Days festivities, members of New Hope Lutheran Church, 115 Oak St., North Aurora, and Fox Valley Festival Chorus are holding a flea market, bake sale, craft sale, handmade quilt raffle and more. The 2012 Extreme Tour: The tour will stop in Aurora with a free outdoor concert at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Warehouse Church, 308 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora. Free immigration clinic: Roger Curless, a local coordinator of Justice for Our Neighbors, speaks at the 10 a.m. service Sunday, Aug. 5, at Fourth Street United Methodist Church, 551 S. Fourth St., Aurora. The clinic meets at 8 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month at the church. Advance appointments only. Pork Roast and Corn Boil: St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 324 W. McKinley Ave., Hinckley, hosts their annual barbecue pork roast and locally grown corn boil supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 15. Ice cream social: The Church of the Good Shepherd, 5 W. Washington St., Oswego, hosts its annual ice cream social from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 18. Lunch items and desserts served. Proceeds benefit the UMM and UMW for mission and church projects.

Temple B’nai Israel annual picnic: Temple B’nai Israel hosts its annual picnic/open house from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at the temple, 400 N. Edgelawn, Aurora. Cost is $8 per adult, $5 for kids 6 to 12, and free for children 6 and younger. Admission for a family with all immediate members living at home will be capped at $25. Babylon—Daniel’s Courage in Captivity: First Christian Church, 635 N. Randall Road, Aurora, hosts their Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:40 p.m. Aug. 6 through 10 for ages 4 through 12th grades. GriefShare Seminar: GriefShare, a program for adults at any stage of grief, features biblical teaching on grief, a video seminar, group discussion and sharing. The class goes from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays Aug. 23 through Nov. 15 at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church’s South Campus, Route 47 at Ament Road, Yorkville. It is not necessary to attend each session. The $15 registration fee includes a workbook; scholarships are available.
