FV Community Center throws a tropical bash

Updated: March 11, 2012 8:23AM

Get in the warm weather mood with a Jimmy Buffet party, book a trip to Chicago, play Scrabble, exercise with friends, and join a knitting class. There is always something fun for seniors to do in the Fox Valley.

Attend

Are you ready for summer? If so, head over to the Fox Valley Community Center (1406 Suydam Road, Sandwich) on Feb. 18 for a “Cheeseburger In Paradise” party!

The event is open to everyone and will start at 6 p.m. and end around midnight. The center will be decked out in tropical decorations, tropical drinks will flow and a DJ will play music from Jimmy Buffet and other lively performers.

“Everyone is encouraged to wear topical outfits; there will be a tacky tropical shirt contest,” said Sue Johnson of Fox Valley Older Adult Services.

Tickets are $10 before Feb. 17 and $12 the day of the event. Prices include a burger, fries, coleslaw, dessert, and a soft drink. Dancing is encouraged and there will be a limbo and hula-hoop contest.

“It’s going to be a really fun evening where everyone will rid themselves of the winter weather,” said Johnson.

All proceeds will benefit programs provided by Fox Valley Older Adult Services. For more information and to buy tickets, call 815-786-9404.
