Raise your eyes to the night skies, because nothing celebrates our nation’s independence like mass quantities of pyrotechnics set to music.
Here’s where you can find some fireworks in your town.
The Aurora Independence Day Fireworks top off an evening of family activities that begin at 5 p.m. at three locations: Wilder Park, RiverEdge Park and McCullough Park.
The fireworks spectacular will be at 9:30 p.m. July 4 at RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway in Aurora. It’s advised that people park remotely and ride the free shuttle buses.
Before the fireworks, the Fox Valley Orchestra will play from 8:30 to 9:15 p.m. and Bruce in the USA, a Bruce Springsteen tribute band, will play from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Call (630) 256-4636 or visit aurora-il.org.
The Fourth of July fireworks are part of the city’s annual Ribfest, put on by the Exchange Club of Naperville, in cooperation with the City of Naperville and the Naperville Park District.
Gates are opened at 7:30 p.m., and the fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. July 4 at Knoch Park, 724 S. West St., Naperville. There is a musical simulcast to go with the fireworks found on 95.9 FM The River.
Parking is recommended in the remote lots at the Burlington Lot, Naperville Central College, Naperville North High School, Neuqua Valley High School and Cowlishaw Elementary School. Twelve additional remote lots will be open on the Fourth of July; check the web site for locations.
There is no Ribfest event parking at Edward Hospital; violators will be towed. There is no viewing fireworks on hospital property this year.
Call (630) 259-1129 or visit Ribfest.net.
Fireworks will be presented at 9:30 p.m. as part of the Northwest Fourth Fest, hosted by the Village of Hoffman Estates in partnership with the City of Elgin, Village of Hanover Park and Hanover Township. The festival is located outside Sears Centre Arena at 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway in Hoffman Estates.
The fireworks will include a pyrotechnics display with a longer show and computerized launch system. The fireworks will be paired with a live performance from the Elgin Symphony Orchestra from 9 to 10 p.m. Call (847) 649-2222 or visit northwestfourthfest.com.
The Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry present a patriotic program capped off by fireworks at dusk on July 4 at the Joliet Memorial Stadium, near the Joliet Park District at 3000 W. Jefferson St. in Joliet.
Gates will open at 6 p.m. and a short program will begin at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks set to music. Call (815) 727-5371 or visit jolietchamber.com.
