Fans of spice can start lining up at the salsa bar inside the recently opened Taco Grill and Salsa Bar at 31 N. Broadway in downtown Aurora.

With more than two dozen fresh salsas, including at least six kinds of salsa verde, Taco Grill gives plenty of options for those who enjoy heat. And they aren’t messing around with their extra hot salsas — consider this fair warning.

Owner Eduardo Oliver, of Westmont, opened the first Taco Grill in an old Long John Silver’s location on Ogden Avenue in Westmont more than a decade ago. The popular taco spot brings in patrons from all over and is rated highly on Yelp.com.

Oliver said the new Aurora location brings the same menu with tacos, burritos, tortas, enchiladas and quesadillas along with horchata and their famed selection of fresh salsas.

“Everything is the same,” said Oliver, who plans on keeping the restaurant open late for diners. During the week, Oliver said, they will stay open until midnight, and until 4 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Taco Grill opened early last week with a soft opening. The official grand opening is scheduled for Feb. 15, and patrons will receive 20 percent off food purchases.

Oliver said the inside of the restaurant is similar to when it was most recently Hot Pechugas, but it’s a little different with the fresh salsa bar.

The Westmont location has a beer license, and Oliver plans to obtain one for the Aurora location as well.

As for opening a second location, Taco Grill, Oliver is confident it will succeed.

“A lot of people like (Taco Grill). Everybody says we have the best tortas in town,” he said.

Taco Grill opens daily at 10 a.m.
