While this week will find some of our members on the golf course for some fun and networking, last week at the Yorkville Chamber held a much more educational tone.

On Tuesday, Leads Group 2 hosted a workshop on increasing sales and building business. Then Friday, PAY (Professionals Advancing in Yorkville) hosted a presentation on performance metrics, measuring business performance.

During the “Performance Metrics for Small Business” program, presenter Cory Hansen of Spectrum Restoration shared some of the tools and techniques his company uses to track leads, sales, expenses and other elements that help manage a business wisely. As Cory put it, “What gets measured gets managed.”

He encouraged attendees to be pro-active in tracking and measuring, as opposed to waiting until a crisis point is reached.

“Businesses are dealing with serious times and issues, and need to get serious about accountability,” he said.

As part of the chamber’s mission to help strengthen businesses through networking, educational and social opportunities, this program was provided to members and visitors at no cost. We are very appreciative to Cory for sharing his expertise in this field, and also thank him for staying afterward to talk with attendees who benefitted from more in-depth information.

Next week, several free networking opportunities are scheduled at various times. Leads Group: Ignite is hosting an ice cream social over lunch Wednesday. On Thursday evening, Castle Bank and Castle Insurance are hosting a Chamber Network Night. Then on Friday morning, Business Over Coffee will be hosted by Stonewall Business Services and Mutual Ground.

Looking ahead, we’re pleased to invite the public to a luncheon on Oct. 9 featuring keynote speaker state Rep. Kay Hatcher (R-Yorkville). For more information on this and other chamber events, visit yorkvillechamber.org.

A warm welcome is extended to businesses that have recently joined our chamber: It Works; Innovative Job Solutions, LLC; LLT Group; Servpro of Kendall County; Fox Valley Embroidery; Air Medics; West Suburban Bank; and ERC of Chicago. We look forward to integrating them into the network. Please visit our website directory at yorkvillechamber.org to learn more about these and other member businesses.
