Montgomery man charged after loose dog bites mail carrier

A Montgomery resident was charged this week after his dog bit a mail carrier, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office said.
Patrick Sondgeroth, 47, told police he was delivering the mail about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday when he was bitten by a dog in the 0-99 block of Springdale Road. Sondgeroth, of the 1400 block of Autumn Ridge Drive in Sandwich, received several stitches to close the wound, police said.
The dog, a tan mastiff, is owned by Charles Johnson Jr. of the 0-99 block of Springdale Drive, police said. Johnson was charged with unlawfully allowing a dog to run at large and failure to affix a rabies tag. Police said the dog was not current on its rabies vaccine.
AURORA
Raul Rojo was treated at Rush-Copley Medical Center and released after his car hit a tree, a wooden sign and then a metal pole at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday near New York Street and County Line Road, police said. Rojo was charged with drunken driving, revoked license, no insurance, improper lane use and failure to reduce speed, police said. Aurora police refused to provide Rojo’s age or address.
Maher Jassem was taken to Provena Mercy Medical Center after a two-car crash at 2:59 p.m. Wednesday near Illinois and Gladstone avenues, police said. No condition report was available, and the other driver fled, police said. No further information was provided.
A child’s car seat, computer, CD player and video game system, worth $2,020, were stolen when someone broke into a car in the 1300 block of Monomoy Street between 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and 12:10 a.m. Thursday, police said.
KENDALL COUNTY
The sheriff’s office is investigating an incident that occurred early Wednesday morning in the 9100 block of Ament Road. According to police, around 2 a.m. a car drove off Route 47 north of Ament Road, then drove through a cornfield, hitting a fence on the property in the 9100 block of Ament Road. The car continued driving, broke through another fence and then drove over another cornfield near Ament and Hopkins roads. The car continued on through several other cornfields before returning to Wheeler Road, west of Grove Road.
OSWEGO
About $1,900 worth of property was taken from a garage in the 200 block of Bluegrass Parkway between 8:20 a.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
Three people were injured in a bus-vs.-car crash at 1:48 p.m. Wednesday near Route 34 and Heritage Drive, police said. Driver Sophie Hein, 93, of the 100 block of Waterbury Circle, Oswego, bus driver Sharon Ellis, 45, 1200 block of River Street, Aurora, and passenger John Jones, 20, 800 block of Oliver Avenue, Aurora, were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center for minor injuries, police said. No condition reports were available. Hein was charged with failure to reduce speed, police said.
Three people reported car burglaries near Pineridge Road and Holly Drive Thursday morning, police said. In the 100 block of Pineridge Drive, keys were taken from one unlocked car and an iPhone was taken from another unlocked car sometime before 6:50 a.m., police said. About $600 worth of items were taken from two unlocked cars in a driveway on the nearby 200 block of Holly Lane sometime before 7:20 a.m., police said.
