A 16-year-old juvenile is being questioned by police following a home break-in Thursday in Aurora.
Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said police were called to a home in the 600 block of Westgate Avenue around 9:30 a.m. after a resident reported a possible break-in. Calls for suspicious activity in the area were also made earlier Thursday morning, police said.
When police arrived at the home on Westgate, two male suspects were seen running from the home.
Ferrelli said that the men took off running in different directions through several backyards. A lengthy foot chase ensued, and the men evaded police.
Officers set up a perimeter in the are where the two men were last seen, and with the assistance of the Kane County Sheriff Department K-9 unit were able to locate a 16-year-old suspect in the 1600 block of Roanoak Avenue at about 11 a.m., police said.
Police said charges against the 16-year-old are pending. The investigation into the identity of the second male suspect is ongoing. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
