St. Charles police  investigate attempted abduction of teen

Updated: March 14, 2014 8:32AM

St. Charles police are investigating the attempted abduction of a 13-year-old girl at her bus stop Monday morning.

Police said that the teen was waiting at her bus stop near Turnberry Road and Royal Queens Court around 7:45 a.m. when she was approached by a man in a light colored, tan or silver, four-door vehicle.

The man, who was described as being 40 to 50 years old with short gray hair and a scruffy beard, asked the teen which school she attended and told her to get in his car, police said.

The teen told the man no, and he persisted.

“It’s cold out so get in the car and I’ll take you to school,” the man allegedly told the girl.

When another student waiting at the bus stop told the suspect that the bus would be arriving in a minute, the man drove away, police said.

Anyone with information should call St. Charles police.
