Three people are in custody following a Tuesday shooting in a quiet neighborhood in Montgomery.
The shooting happened just before 8 a.m. at a home in the 2800 block of Frances Lane in the Lakewood Creek West subdivision. No one was injured during the incident.
Three people were taken into custody after fleeing the scene. The suspects were involved in a crash near Routes 31 and 30, Montgomery Police Chief Daniel Meyers said.
Police were busy at the house following the shooting, taking bags of evidence from the scene. A red vehicle parked outside the home appeared to have its windows shot out, and yellow crime scene tape blocked off several homes.
Meyers said the shooting allegedly stemmed from a domestic incident that occurred at the home recently. Some witnesses to the shooting were interviewed by the Montgomery Police Department, Meyers said.
Neighbors said they heard at leave five shots fired around 7:45 a.m. They then saw two vehicles flee the scene.
Police said the suspects were chased by the residents of the home where the shots were fired. The two vehicles ended up crashing into each other near Route 30 and Route 31. The suspect vehicle, still driveable, then fled toward Baseline Road in Montgomery, where the suspects were taken into custody by police.
Police said a weapon was recovered. It is believed to be the weapon used in the shooting. Also, police recovered shell casings outside the home.
The Kane and Kendall Sheriff’s Departments, along with the Oswego Police Department, assisted Montgomery officers during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
