A Batavia economic development consultant was charged with drunken driving after a three-vehicle rear-end collision on East State Street in Geneva.
Chris Aiston, 55, of the 700 block of James Street, Geneva, was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident at 10:21 p.m. Jan. 22, Geneva police said.
Aiston was hired by the city last year as an independent consultant to attract new commercial business to Batavia. He previously worked as economic development director for the city of St. Charles, as well as in Kane and DeKalb counties.
Police said Aiston was driving westbound in the curb lane of the 1500 block of East State Street, approaching Kirk Road, when his vehicle slid on the slush on the roadway and struck a 2008 Honda Civic driven by a 24-year-old Geneva woman. The collision caused her car to be pushed into a 2002 Malibu driven by a 22-year-old Naperville man. No one was injured.
