Woman shot and killed in domestic incident

Updated: January 14, 2014 12:17AM

A 22-year-old woman was shot and killed Monday evening during a domestic-related incident on the city’s West Side, Aurora police said. It was Aurora’s second homicide reported on Monday evening.

Police said the woman was apparently arguing with a 45-year-old man outside a home in the 500 block of Charles Street around 8:25 p.m. when she was shot in the abdomen.

She was taken to an area hospital by paramedics and pronounced dead shortly after her arrival, police said.

The man, an Aurora resident, was taken into custody Monday evening.

The incident does not appear to be connected to the shooting death of a 22-year-old man that happened earlier Monday evening on Lake Street, also in Aurora, police said.

In that incident, police said the man was shot while in the bathroom of a restaurant in the 800 block of North Lake Street.

Two men fled from the scene in that incident. No one was in custody Monday evening.
