Aurora police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead Monday evening.

A 22-year-old Aurora man was shot at least once in the bathroom at a restaurant in the 800 block of North Lake Street around 7:34 p.m.

On the scene Monday night, Aurora Police Lt. Pete Inda identified that restaurant as La Torta Carniceria y Taqueria in the Northgate Shopping Center.

The victim was taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center, Inda said. He died at the hospital, according to Aurora Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli.

Police said two male suspects apparently fled from the scene, possibly on foot headed eastbound. Police do not yet have a description of the suspects, Inda said.

The restaurant was open at the time of the shooting, according to Inda.

Monday night’s homicide was Aurora’s first of the year.
