Portions of Route 47 near Yorkville were closed for nearly four hours Friday morning after Illinois State Police responded to a three-vehicle crash with injuries.
Police said the crash occurred around 7:14 a.m. near Route 47 and Walker Road. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash, but Friday morning’s thick fog might have played a factor.
According to Illinois State Police, a pickup truck was traveling eastbound, through the intersection at Route 47 and Walker Road, when it struck a semi-tractor trailer. Police said the pickup truck subsequently struck a third vehicle.
The semi-truck driver reported no injuries, but the drivers of the two other vehicles involved were transported to area hospitals.
One was reported to have serious injuries, one was reported to have non life-threatening injuries, police said.
Roads around the crash site reopened around 11 a.m. No tickets were issued.
The crash remains under investigation.
