Woman charged with drunken driving after Aurora crash

Maria Gonzalez-Alvarez, 41, 200 block of Kirkwood Lane, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving and leaving the scene of a crash at 1 a.m. Saturday near North Farnsworth Avenue and New York Street in Aurora, police said.

Police were called to the area of East Galena and South Root Street for a hit and run crash that had just occurred. On their way, officer spotted Gonzalez-Alvarez’s car heavily damaged. She was stopped, and taken into custody for drunken driving, leaving the scene of a crash, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, no licence, and no insurance, according to police reports.


A 23-year-old Aurora man was charged with possession of Ecstacy early Saturday morning when police responded to a noise complaint in the 300 block of West Downer Place. Officers investigating the complaint found music coming from a vehicle parked in the lot of a closed business. Several people were in the car, and police said they appeared to be smoking marijuana. Ricardo Vargas, 500 block of Columbia Street was found to be in possession of Ecstacy and marijuana. He was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, police said.

Joel Ortiz, 45, 1200 block of Pearl Street, Aurora, was charged with felony possession of marijuana at 1:16 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of West Downer Place, police said. Police stopped Ortiz’s vehicle when he failed to signal before turning.

Miguel Enciso, 38, 200 block of Beach Street, Aurora, was charged with felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse at 1:19 p.m. Thursday at the Aurora Police Department, police said.

Albert Pryor, 27, 200 block of Andrew Lane, North Aurora, was charged with drunken driving, no license, illegal transportation of liquor and failure to signal at 7:40 p.m. Friday near North Lake Street and Old Indian Trail, police said.

Someone stole a silver, 2000 Buick Regal sometime between 8:50 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday while it was left warming up in a parking lot in the 1200 block of North Lake Street, police said. The owner went into the building to let the car warm up, and came out to find it missing. The door was left unlocked, police said.

Kendall County

Whitley Graham, 24, 0-99 block of Hillstone Road, Montgomery, was charged with beating two deputies who were responding to a noise complaint at Graham’s address around 12:40 a.m. Sunday morning. Graham was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, deputies said.
