Two Aurora women were charged with mob action early Saturday morning for allegedly beating a woman in a restaurant bathroom.
Police were called to the restaurant in the 800 block of North Farnsworth Avenue in Aurora around 2:53 a.m. for the report of a woman who was on the bathroom floor, bleeding from her head. When they arrived, police and paramedics found the victim seriously injured.
The victim told police she had gone to the bathroom, and entered a stall because she felt like she was going to be ill. That is when two women, identified as Aracely Duron, 36 and Sodely Monarrez, 22, entered the picture.
According to police reports, Duron, of the 2000 block of Fox Pointe Circle, and Monarrez, of the 500 block of East Ashland Avenue, were allegedly upset that the victim was taking so long in the bathroom stall. They became angry, and a verbal fight began among the three women, police said.
Duron and Monarrez then allegedly dragged the victim from the stall, and beat her head against the toilet, floor and wall.
While this was happening, the victim’s friend entered the bathroom to check on the woman. When she saw the beating taking place, the witness ran to grab a man for help. The man entered the bathroom to intervene.
Police said that at this time, Monarrez’s husband, David Monarrez, 28, also entered the bedroom and punched the male witness in the head. The fight broke up, and police were called.
Duron and Sodely Monarrez were charged with felony battery and felony mob action. David Monarrez was charged with misdemeanor battery, police said.
The female victim was taken to an area hospital where she was treated for her injuries, police said.
