VIRGIL TWP. — A Hinckley woman was killed and two people from Schaumburg were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Sunday afternoon from a two-vehicle crash on Route 38 between Elburn and Maple Park, authorities said.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office said a 2012 Ford Focus driven by Kelly Morsch, 23, was traveling east on Route 38, west of Meredith Road, about 12:30 p.m. when it crossed over the center line for an unknown reason and struck a 2007 BMW sport utility vehicle that was headed west.
Morsch was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the BMW — identified as Christopher Mctee, 40, was flown from the scene to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, and his passenger, Lisa Mctee, 32, was transported by ambulance to Delnor Hospital in Geneva — both with injuries that were not deemed to be life-threatening, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Pat Gengler.
No tickets were issued, and sheriff’s detectives and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team were investigating the crash Monday. Route 38 was closed between Meredith and Watson roads for about four hours.
