Kaneland High School Athletic Director Leigh Jaffke has resigned after serving 14 years in the post.
Kaneland Community School District 302 Superintendent Jeff Schuler confirmed Friday that Jaffke had stepped down at Wednsday night’s school board meeting. The board normally meets on Mondays but this meeting was pushed back due to the Columbus Day holiday.
Jaffke could not be reached for comment.
Schuler said Mike Rice, an assistant principal at the high school, would assume the duties in the “short term” until an interim athletic director can be named to fill the role for the remainder of this school year. A new athletic director will likely be hired in the spring.
He said the district’s educational services department will begin the search and interview process and work in collaboration with a number of people from within the district during the interview process.
