Aurora man attacked by gunman while sitting on porch at his home

A 56-year-old Aurora man said he was attacked by two men Tuesday evening while sitting on the porch of his home in the 100 block of South Fourth Street.
The victim reported that around 6:41 p.m., two teenagers appeared from an alley near his home, and one of them was holding a gun. Police said the teens pulled their hoods over their heads to conceal their identities before charging toward the victim.
The armed teen pointed the weapon at the victim and pulled the trigger, but the gun never discharged. Then, the teen struck the victim in the head with the butt of the gun, injuring the victim, police said.
The victim was able to cry out for help, and the suspects fled the scene on their bicycles. According to the victim, neither suspect made any statements during the attack.
No descriptions of the suspects were provided.
Elvira Deltoro, 40, 600 block of Independence Drive, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving, driving on a suspended license, and disregarding a traffic control device at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of North Farnsworth Avenue, police said.
Alma Cabrales, 900 block of Walter Avenue, Aurora, was taken to an area hospital where she was treated for injuries following a two-car crash near Liberty Street and Kendall Street at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Lawrence Turrubiartes, of Oswego, was charged with failure to yield at an intersection after he struck Cabrales’ vehicle.
Miriam Orellano, of Roselle, was injured at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday near Farnsworth Avenue and Premium Outlets Boulevard after her car was struck head-on by an oncoming vehicle. Police charged Brandon Lozano, 700 block of Sheridan Street, Aurora, with driving too fast for conditions after he lost control of his car on the wet pavement and struck Orellano.
Dominic Taylor, 19, 2700 block of McDuffee Circle, North Aurora, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 7 p.m. Tuesday near North View Street and West Park Avenue, police said.
