AURORA — The closure of portions of Orchard Road that were scheduled for Thursday while police do followup investigation concerning a serious motorcycle crash has been postponed until Monday.
City spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the work has been postponed due to rain.
Southbound lanes of Orchard between Prairie Street and Jericho Road will be closed from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, while the northbound lanes between Jericho and Aucutt Road will be closed from 11 a.m. to noon.
A 21-year-old Aurora man was seriously injured in a crash when his motorcycle collided with an SUV on Orchard Road Saturday evening.
Michael A. Bradley, 21, of the 100 block of Franklin Avenue, Aurora, sustained serious injuries when he was ejected from the cycle upon impact, but is expected to survive, according to Ferrelli.
The driver of the SUV, Mary C. Betz, 42, of the 1800 block of Cambridge Lane in Montgomery, was cited for failure to yield while turning left.
Both drivers were ticketed for no insurance. Bradley was also cited for operating a motorcycle without valid classification.
No signs of alcohol or drug use were preliminarily found, police said.
