A Sugar Grove man is facing charges after police responded to a call for shots fired Tuesday night in Aurora.
Police were called to a home in the 400 block of Blackhawk Street at around 10:54 p.m. and found a fight had broken out between several people.
A 42-year-old man was found suffering from scratch wounds he sustained during the fight. He refused medical treatment. His wounds did not appear to be caused by a gunshot, police said, but they do suspect a gun was shot at some point.
Police believe that during the scuffle, Garbriel Carpenter, 27, 0-99 block of Heaton Court, allegedly pulled out a handgun, which was discharged. No one was injured during the shooting, but police found a spent casing in the street, and a gun was recovered from a neighboring yard.
A gun magazine and holster were also found in Carpenter’s vehicle. He was charged with one felony count of not having a FOID card.
Both Carpenter and a 26-year-old Oklahoma woman were also injured during the fight, and refused medical treatment, police said.
The woman was questioned by police and released without charges.
Carpenter was also wanted on a warrant out of Kendall County for criminal trespass to land.
