The 61-year-old bicyclist who was seriously injured after being struck by a car early Tuesday morning in Aurora has been identified.
Richard Adams, 0-99 block of Westgate Drive, Aurora sustained severe head injuries around 7:26 a.m. Tuesday while he was riding his bike on Sullivan Road, police said. He was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with possibly life-threatening injuries. He remained alive as of Wednesday morning, Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said.
According to police reports, Jeffrey Krabeck, 25, 600 block of Pinewood Drive, North Aurora, was traveling in the right-hand turn lane headed east on Sullivan Road just west of Route 25 when he struck Adams, who was traveling in the same direction.
Krabeck was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
He told police that he was blinded by sunlight when his car struck Adams. A witness said Krabeck was not traveling very fast when the crash occurred.
