A 61-year-old bicyclist was airlifted to a suburban Chicago hospital with possibly life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car on Sullivan Road in Aurora Tuesday.
Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said that at around 7:30 a.m. a bicyclist was in the right-hand turn lane headed east on Sullivan Road just west of Route 25 when he was struck by a car headed in the same direction.
The age of the driver, and what he was driving, have not been released.
Ferrelli said no tickets have been issued as the department’s traffic unit investigates the crash. Sullivan Road was closed for several hours Tuesday afternoon as the investigation took place, Ferrelli said.
Ferrelli said that there was no sign of drugs or alcohol contributing to the crash.
The man’s head injuries appear to be possibly life-threatening, he said.
