Woman injured in three-car crash in Aurora

Ana K. Espinosa, of the 500 block of Seventh Avenue, Aurora, was taken to an area hospital with injuries after a three-car crash at 3:29 p.m. Wednesday at Hinman Street and Sixth Avenue, police said.
She was charged with no insurance and no valid driver’s license, police said.
Veronica Pulido, of the 500 block of Spencer Street, Aurora, was charged with failure to yield at an intersection after striking Espinosa and a parked vehicle.
A victim reported an incidence of theft by fraud at 12:45 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of South Union Street. According to police, a man called the victim pretending to be a friend in need of $1,500 for hospital expenses incurred after an accident in Mexico. The victim wired the funds, then later found out that his friend had been impersonated, police said.
Phillip E. Thompson, 45, of the 0-99 block of Braxton Lane, Aurora, was charged with felony retail theft at 4:17 p.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Avenue and Liberty Street, police said.
Someone broke the window of a vehicle, and stole $1,200 of items sometime before 10 a.m. Sept. 6, while it was parked in the 2100 block of Kathleen Street, police said.
St. Charles Police arrested three people for drunken driving during the department’s two-week, Labor Day enforcement period, which ended Sept. 2. During this time, police also cited 17 people for speeding, 28 people for not wearing their seat belts, six people for not having insurance, five people for other moving violations, and made one warrant arrest.
Richard D. Lavin, 49, of the 800 block of Pottawatomie Trail, Batavia, was charged with drunken driving, improper lane use and having an expired registration after a traffic stop at 2:15 a.m. Sept. 11 in the 0-99 block of South Van Buren Street, Batavia police said.
Philip J. Heffley, 33, of the 2400 block of Dean Street, Sycamore, was charged with drunken driving at 11:16 p.m. Sept. 6 after a traffic stop in the 0-99 block of South Second Street, Geneva police said.
Justin G. King, 37, of the 400 block of Mount Liberty Road, Nashville, Ind., was charged with drunken driving and driving without headlights at 9:40 p.m. Sept. 2 after a traffic stop in the 0-99 block of Richards Street, Geneva police said.
