AURORA — Aldermen unanimously approved the city’s hiring of a Nashville-based municipality branding firm Tuesday night.
Aurora will hire North Star Destination Strategies Inc., a municipal branding firm, for $138,000, to head up the city’s branding efforts.
The project will be managed by Lori Odom, vice president of North Star Destinations Strategies.
Odom said the firm will interview community stakeholders, Aurora business owners and other regional sources to uncover and articulate Aurora’s competitive advantage in the marketplace.
The goal of the rebranding is to spur economic development and increase business investment in Aurora.
North Star Destination Strategies will be responsible for researching existing attitudes and perceptions of the city, developing a brand positioning statement, concept, logo and style guide. The consultant will also develop a recommended marketing strategy for the city.
North Star, a 13-year-old company, has completed branding campaigns for more than 170 destinations, including downtown New Orleans, La., Glendale, Calif., and Providence, R.I.
