DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan announced Tuesday that he is running for state treasurer in the Republican primary election.
“We need a financial professional watching over our tax dollars,” Grogan declared. “If you were hiring a treasurer for your business, you would look for someone with financial expertise. Doesn’t it make sense for the State of Illinois to do the same?”
Grogan pointed to his record as auditor as a reason he should be elected. He said he has traveled to more than 40 counties throughout Illinois in the past six months, listening to citizen concerns.
“The message I am hearing is clear,” he said. “People want someone trustworthy and qualified to watch over their money.”
Grogan has been twice elected auditor of DuPage County. In addition to being a CPA, he is also a Certified Fraud Examiner.
In his private sector experience, he has conducted and directed audits of pension plans, non-profit corporations, and governments.
