Man steals SUV, crashes into White Castle

A Bartlett man has been charged with stealing a vehicle and driving it into an Aurora White Castle while drunk.
Eliseo Ortiz, 47, of Bartlett, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, drunken driving, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, no driver’s license and resisting arrest around 10:51 p.m. Friday after police responded to a vehicle that had crashed into White Castle, 444 N. Route 59.
According to police reports, when officers arrived on the scene, Ortiz was revving the engine of a Rav4, with front engine damage and a flat front tire that had been reported stolen.
Police ordered Ortiz to shut off the vehicle and put his hands in the air at gunpoint, but, according to police, Ortiz refused and revved the engine in an attempt to back up and flee. Police forcibly removed Ortiz from the vehicle before placing him under arrest, according to police reports.
Johnny Taylor, 57, of the 0-99 block of Hawthorne Court, Aurora, was charged with home invasion, a class X felony, and unlawful restraint, a class 4 felony, at 12:35 a.m. Monday, in the same block as his residence, police said.
Christina J. Miller, 26, of the 100 block of Ohio Street, Aurora, was charged with felony obstructing justice at 8:09 p.m. Thursday at her home, police said.
Blanca Ortega, 39, of the 100 block of Pleasant Street, Sandwich, was charged with drunken driving at 7:34 p.m. Sunday at East New York Street and North Broadway, police said.
Michael L. Thomas, 57, of the 1200 block of Liberty Street, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia at 6 p.m. Saturday at his home, police said.
A man reported the passenger and rear windows of his vehicle had been smashed out around 2:35 a.m. Friday while his vehicle was parked on the street. According to police, witnesses identified the suspect, believed to be a woman who was seven months pregnant and seen smashing the car windows with a crowbar. No charges have been filed.
Timothy O. Skelly, 53, of the 2800 block of Breckenridge Lane, Naperville, was charged with drunken driving at 5:45 p.m. Sunday after deputies responded to a well-being check in the 7600 block of Route 34, Yorkville. According to deputies, Skellly was unresponsive and was seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in a driveway.
Mary C. Bedke, 56, of the 1100 block of Hull Court, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving and no rear registration light at 2:31 a.m. Saturday near Route 34 and Boulder Hill Pass, deputies said.
