Cops: Sandwich dad beat son with belt after crash

A Sandwich father was charged with domestic battery Thursday after police said he beat his teenage son with a belt after the boy was involved in a traffic accident near Plano.
The 17-year-old was involved in a traffic crash about 3:40 p.m. Thursday afternoon in the 15000 block of Millhurst Road in an unincorporated area near Plano, according to a report from the Kendall County Sheriff’s office.
A deputy investigating the crash saw the boy’s father, 36-year-old Dale Nelson Schmidt, strike the boy multiple times with a “heavy duty leather belt,” according to the report.
Schmidt, of the 1800 block of Irene Road in Sandwich, was charged with domestic battery, police said.
Christopher Simons-Lange, 24, 3600 block of Blake Street, Plano, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to signal and driving on a suspended/revoked license at 7:16 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Jackson Street, police said.
Matthew Lake, 26, of Hillside, was charged with felony retail theft and driving on a suspended/revoked license at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday near West Indian Trail Road and Golden Oaks, police said.
Chancelor Terrell, 22, 1100 block of Plum Street, Aurora, was charged with felony robbery at 4 p.m. Monday near West Illinois Avenue and North Elmwood Drive, police said.
Erica Losoya, 27, and Lorenzo Losoya, 18, both of the 1100 block of Plum Street, Aurora, were both charged with felony robbery at 5:05 p.m. Monday at their residence, police said.
Richard Higgins, 51, 100 block of West Galena Boulevard, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday near Gates Street and Parker Avenue, police said.
Dennis D. Morrow, of the 34W000 block of Skyline Drive, St. Charles, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, having a suspended license and no car insurance at 3:42 a.m. Aug 14 in the 200 block of North Cambridge Drive, Geneva police said.
Several hundred dollars damage was done when vandals damaged seven mailboxes in the 100 block of North Greenwich Lane, 300 block of Cape Way, 2100 block of Fargo Boulevard and 1900 block of Williamsburg Avenue in the early morning hours of Aug. 14, Geneva police said.
