St. Charles man killed in Geneva motorcycle crash

A St. Charles man was killed while riding his motorcycle Sunday afternoon east of Geneva. James R. Stevens, 58, had turned north onto Kautz Road from Route 38 at about 2:46 p.m. when he lost control of his 1985 Honda, slid on the west side of the road and struck a tree, Geneva police said.

Stevens was transported by ambulance to Central DuPage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said the crash is under investigation.


Someone stole a 6-month-old boxer puppy, worth $2,000, sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Sunday while it was on a chain in the yard of a home in the 800 block of East Lake Street, police said. The owner told police the chain was spring-loaded, and it would have been impossible for the dog to escape on its own. The dog, named “Canelo,” was wearing a blue harness.

No charges were cited against a California couple who got into an argument and ended up causing thousands of dollars in damages to their Aurora hotel room, police said. Police were called to a hotel in the 100 block of North Broadway Sunday after housekeepers found the room badly damaged. There were two lights that had been ripped from the wall and smashed, a broken coffee table, glass in the carpet and blood all over the bedding, police said. Damage was set at $3,170. The woman who had rented the room for the evening told police she and her boyfriend had been drinking and gotten into an argument, which resulted in the damage to the room. She said she would pay for the damages.

Brian Williams, 37, 100 block of Gregory Street, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving at 2:50 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Old Indian Trail, police said.

Jose Mora, 26, 400 block of East New York Street, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving, failure to yield, no license and no headlights at 12:18 a.m. Sunday in the 900 block of Spruce Street, police said.

Fabian Aragon, 30, 800 block of Oliver Avenue, Aurora was charged with felony manufacturing/delivering marijuana at 5:10 p.m. Saturday after police executed a search warrant at his home, police said.

Masood Khan, 22, 600 block of South River Street, Aurora, was charged with felony retail theft at 4 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of West Galena Boulevard, police said.

Ryan Borchardt, 24, 2500 block of Whiteway Court, Aurora, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia at 4:35 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of North Farnsworth Avenue, police said.

Nequan Vaughn, 29, of Chicago, was charged with felony violation of the sex offender registration act at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Aurora police station. Vaughn was also charged with disorderly conduct at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday in the 0-99 block of North View Street, police said.

Kendall County

Hugo Avelar-Yanez, 25, and Ramiro Lopez, 23, both of Chicago, were charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at 7:38 p.m. Friday near Van Emmon Street and Cardinal Lane, deputies said.


Kathleen Sullivan, 29, 300 block of Pearl Street, Sandwich, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of identification at 9:56 a.m. Sunday near South Main Street and Elizabeth Street, police said.
