Car crashes into Aurora store

A car crashed into a Circle K store in the 2900 block of East New York Street at 8:24 a.m. Wednesday, and smashed out the front window. No tickets were issued, police said. The driver told police her foot slipped off of the brake pedal and onto the gas.
Jessica Anders, 20, of Glendale Heights, was charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance and improper turning at an intersection at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday near Reckinger Road and McClure Road, police said.
Thomas Potochney, 30, 600 block of Sheridan Street, Aurora, was charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon, felony violation of the FOID card act, aggravated assault and violation of an order of protection at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 3000 block of Hillbrook Lane, police said.
Someone stole bicycles and tools, worth $1,450, sometime between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday, from a garage in the 1500 block of Southlawn Place, police said.
A computer, backpack and cash, totaling $1,730, were stolen from a vehicle sometime between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of North Ohio Street, police said. Someone smashed out the car’s window, and stole the items from the truck.
Electronics and cell phones were stolen in three residential burglaries during between Aug. 5 and Aug. 14 in the 900 to 1200 blocks of Woodland Hills and the 1600 block of Wagner Road, Batavia police said. Police are urging residents to properly secure their doors and windows. Residents can call 911 to report suspicious activity. Residents with information can contact the police at 630-454-2500.
James Kovarik, 60, of Westchester, was injured in a motorcycle crash at 11:52 p.m. Saturday near Route 47 and Elizabeth Street, police said. Police said Kovarik was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center by Bristol/Kendall paramedics where he was treated for injuries. His passenger, Maria Kovarik, 60, was also injured, but not taken to the hospital, police said.
