AURORA – In an effort to help families with special needs children access state services and programs, state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit will host a forum Thursday.
Kifowit, a Democrat from Oswego, will host the discussion at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Eola Branch of the Aurora Public Library, 555 S. Eola Road in Aurora. Kevin Casey, director of development disabilities with the Illinois Department of Human Services, will lead the talk.
Casey is an expert on Illinois programs and services for the special needs community, Kifowit said.
“There are great organizations in our area that assist people with special needs, and my goal is to connect these community groups and individuals looking for resources with a state expert so as many people as possible can take advantage of the programs and services that are available,” she said.
Area residents are invited to discuss education, transportation and housing needs for the special needs community with Casey. The forum, in question and answer format, is free and open to the public.
