YORKVILLE — The Kendall County Board this week authorized back pay for employees in the Circuit Clerk’s office who decertified their union earlier this month.
The board approved $5,500 in back pay for approximately 18 employees in Circuit Clerk Becky Morganegg’s office. Those employees earlier this month voted 14-4 to decertify their unit with Teamster’s Union Local 330.
The employees had voted to decertify last November, but after a complaint filed by the local, both sides agreed to hold a second vote, rather than go to a formal hearing.
Union decertified
The money will be retroactive pay for the former union employees.
They will get, in essence, the same increase all non-union county employees got at the beginning of the fiscal year last December, which was a $975 bump.
Any pay increase for the former union employees was held up until the union situation was resolved.
“This is kind of a new era in our office,” Morganegg told the board.
