The Kane County state’s attorney’s office will not pursue charges following an investigation into alleged financial mishandling in the office of the Sugar Grove Township supervisor.
“Based on the evidence presented, we do not believe criminal charges are appropriate,” State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said Monday.
A criminal complaint had been filed against former Township Supervisor Dan Nagel, who resigned suddenly after 31 years in office last October.
The complaint was filed by Township Trustee Scott Jesseman, who made a Freedom of Information Act request in June after seeing checks made payable to Nagel. Jesseman said at the time the documents showed “questionable charges” and some of the payments were missing receipts.
