Family and friends gathered on a rainy Sunday afternoon for the wake of Abigail Villalpando, an 18-year-old Auroran who was killed Jan. 31. The wake at Daleiden Mortuary, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora was scheduled to last for six hours. Police said Villalpando was killed in an attack with a hammer, then her body was burned and dumped in a field. One man is charged with first-degree murder and two others are facing charges in connection with the incident.
Funeral services are today, with a funeral Mass beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Therese Church, 271 N. Farnsworth Ave., Aurora
The family is seeking donations to help with funeral expenses. Donations can be made for the funeral at all Chase Banks locations. The account is in Ricardo Villalpando’s name with the last four digits 7717.
