AURORA — Police are looking for the public’s help in the investigation of a shooting last week in which five teenagers and an 11-year-old boy were wounded.
The shooting occurred late Wednesday night on Aurora’s near East Side. Police did not release information on the incident until Monday afternoon.
Police said that around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, someone fired a shotgun from outside the rear of a home in the 600 block of North Avenue and injured the six young people inside.
The six were hit by shotgun pellets. A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured but has since been released from the hospital. Five others — 19-year-old and 15-year-old girls and boys ages 17, 16 and 11 — all suffered minor injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police investigations division at 630-256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to any arrests.
