About 100 people gathered at the Newark American Legion Post on Sunday to welcome home U.S. Army Capt. Scott Fixmer.
Fixmer, a 2002 graduate of Newark Community High School, recently returned home from deployment in Afghanistan, where he commanded a special operations aviation unit.
The son of Scott and Lisa Fixmer of Yorkville, Fixmer now lives in Ft. Huachuca, Ariz., with his wife Nikki and their two children.
