Batavia bank held up at gunpoint

No one was hurt when an armed man held up Old Second National Bank in Batavia, police officials said.
Batavia police said the robbery occurred at 10:08 a.m. Saturday at the Old Second National Bank branch located at 1078 E. Wilson St.
Police said they were notified of the robbery by an automatic alarm set-off by the bank’s employees. The offender displayed a black semi-automatic handgun and got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
The offender was described as a white male, 25 to 30 years of age, approximately 5-foot-9-inches in height or slightly taller, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, with the hood pulled over his head and a black scarf covering his face and blue jeans.
The robber left the area either in a white or light colored compact, 4-door sedan. Batavia Police and the FBI’s Chicago office are investigating the robbery. Anyone with information is urged to call the Batavia Police Department Investigation Division at (630) 454-2500 or the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
John P. Gorman, 67, of the 700 block of Church St., Batavia, was charged with drunken driving, disobeying a traffic light, failure to signal and operating an uninsured vehicle at 2:04 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of E. Wilson St., Batavia police said.
Carmen K. Lee, of the 1000 block of N. Lincoln Avenue, St. Charles, was charged with drunken driving, DUI over the 0.08 legal limit, improper lane use and misdemeanors possession of drug paraphernalia and cannabis (less than 2.5 grams) at 2:12 a.m. Dec. 19 in the 800 block of N. Bennett St., Geneva police said.
Some 11 pairs of footwear were stolen from a retailer Dec. 19 within the Geneva Commons shopping center on Randall Road at Williamsburg Ave., Geneva police said. The store’s management said a variety of shoes and boots worth $654.45 were stolen sometime between 6:04 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.
Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a single vehicle roll-over crash involving a 17-year old Sugar Grove driver. Police said the crash occurred at 6:10 p.m. Saturday on Clark Rd., just north of Galena Blvd. Because the teen is a minor, police did not disclose her name or nature of her injuries.
Sandra K. Lopez, 19, of Plainfield, was charged with drunken driving, DUI over the 0.08 legal limit and improper lane usage at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday at Route 71 and Forrest Avenue, Oswego police said.
