NORTH AURORA — A North Aurora company is planning to give away 400 boxes of Twinkies at its headquarters Thursday afternoon.
Michael Healy, co-owner of Cherry Logistics, a facilities management company, said it will be “first come, first serve” for the boxes of Twinkies, which have been highly prized since Hostess Brands shut down operations in mid-November.
The Cherry Logistics staff will start handing them out at 1 p.m. at 301 Airport Rd. in North Aurora. The boxes of Twinkies are free and are limited to one box per person.
Healy, of Sugar Grove, said the company purchased the Twinkies off the shelves at a Walmart store in Oswego with the intent to give them to clients.
Instead, they decided to give the treats away to random Fox Valley Twinkies enthusiasts.
“We thought this would be fun and spread some good holiday cheer,” Healy said. “If they need their last Twinkie fix until the bankruptcy court can figure out (what will happen with the Hostess brand), we can just hand them the Twinkies.”
Healy and Cherry Logistics co-owner Charise Simmers predicted the boxes will go fast and urged Twinkies lovers to line up early.
