Burglars swipe copper pipe from 4 homes in Yorkville

Burglars broke into four houses under construction in the 2300 block of Titus Drive in Yorkville and stole more than $2,000 worth of copper pipe, Yorkville police said Thursday.

Police said the burglaries took place Tuesday or Wednesday. They estimated $2,200 worth of the pipe was stolen.

In two of the houses, the burglars also damaged water meters, police said.

Aurora

Fernando Aguirre, 19, 600 block of Claim Street, Aurora, was charged with felony possession of marijuana as well as misdemeanors no driver’s license and failure to signal at 10:13 p.m. Tuesday near Wood Street and Solfisburg Avenue, police said.

Reginald Fair, 41, 600 block of South River Street, Aurora, was charged with felonies aggravated battery to a victim older than 60 and aggravated battery in a public place at 6:13 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of North Broadway, police said.

Drainage gates worth $1,200 were stolen from the 900 block of Corporate Boulevard between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

Cigarettes, cash and medication, worth a total of $5,082, were stolen from a car in the 1800 block of West Galena Boulevard between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Kendall County

The Kendall County sheriff’s office is looking for information about a mailbox vandalism spree on Collins Road this past weekend. According to police, someone threw full water bottles at mailboxes between the 1600 and 2400 block of Collins Road late Friday night or early Saturday morning. One of the mailboxes was knocked off the pole and others were damaged, police said. Police said most of the damaged mailboxes were near Collins and Douglas roads.
