Two dead in Campton Hills crash

Updated: January 4, 2013 6:19AM

Two people were killed Saturday evening in a four-car crash on Route 38 near Pouley Road in Campton Hills.

According to Campton Hills police, a 2003 Nissan Altima driven by Jennifer Liston, 30, of Madison, Wis., was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed and passing several other cars when she struck a vehicle driven by Zachary Bingham, 18, of Maple Park head-on at about 8:45 p.m.

Liston was pronounced dead at the scene while Bingham was transported to Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva and later flown to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where he was pronounced dead, reports said.

Authorities said the car driven by Liston had been reported stolen earlier Saturday in Wheaton. Liston was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Geneva shortly before the crash, police said. A Kane County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the car and attempted to stop her but she fled west on Route 38 at a high rate of speed, reports said. The deputy dropped the pursuit of Liston due to the high speed, reports said.

Several witnesses told police the Liston car was driving recklessly and at speeds of more than 100 mph.

After the initial impact, the Liston vehicle continued into the back of a car driven by Kevin Kull, of Sugar Grove and Kull’s vehicle then collided with a car driven by Ryan Anderson of Sycamore.

Erin Pazin, 19, of Elburn, and Nadia Kull, 48, of Sugar Grove were both transported to Delnor for treatment for non-life threatening injuries, police said. Pazin was a passenger in Bingham’s car and Kull was riding in the Kevin Kull car, reports said.

According to police, Liston was driving on a suspended license. It has not been determined in alcohol was a factor in the crash. The Kane County Accident Reconstruction team is investigating.
