Chicago man charged with attempted murder in Aurora crash

A Chicago man was charged with attempted murder after chasing down and ramming a former acquaintance with his car, police said.
Aurora police said Monday that a woman was locking her car in front of a building in the 400 block of Downer Place around 10 p.m. Nov. 20 when she heard a vehicle racing toward her. The driver, LaShone White, 38, attempted to hit her, before she got into her truck and drove off. Police said White then followed the woman and began ramming her truck. As she crossed Galena Boulevard, he struck her vehicle, causing it to spin, then turned back and struck her vehicle head-on.
Aurora police caught White after a report of a vehicle northbound on Orchard Road with no headlights. He was stopped at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at North Westlawn Avenue and West Illinois Avenue, police said.
In addition to attempted murder, White is charged with felony aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, felony property damage, drunken driving, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and no headlights, police said.
The victim did not require hospitalization. Her vehicle had approximately $25,000 in damage, police said.
A black and tan 1994 Lincoln Town Car valued at $2,000 was stolen from a garage in the 0-99 block of South Lincoln Avenue between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 a.m. Thursday, police said. The keys were in the ignition when it was stolen, police said.
A television, computer, Michael Jordan shoes, Xbox and three iPods, worth $2,980, were stolen between 9:15 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. Thursday from a home in the 800 block of George Avenue, police said. The first-floor window was forced open while the family was out shopping, police said.
A speaker box, two speakers and an amplifier, valued $4,280, were stolen from a Saturn Vue parked in a parking lot in the 900 block of North Farnsworth Drive between 3:15 p.m. Sunday and 3:35 a.m. Monday, police said. The rear window and a side window were broken, in and the body was scratched, police said.
A laptop, television, DVD player and a bottle of 1800 Tequila, worth $1,363, were stolen from a home in the 700 block of Spring Street while the family was gone between Nov. 20 and Monday, police said.
More than $8,300 in construction tools were stolen from a locked trailer at Station Boulevard and Liberty Street between Wednesday and Monday, police said.
Jacinta Hamilton of Naperville was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center with injuries after a two-car crash at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday on New York Street near Route 59. Hamilton was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said. No condition report was available. Police did not release Hamilton’s age.
Jean Carter of Naperville was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center with injuries after a three-car crash at 8:02 a.m. Wednesday near Ogden Avenue and South Eola Road. Isidro Guzman was charged with driving too fast for conditions and disobeying a red light after striking Carter, police said. No condition report was available.
Yesenia Hernandez, 400 block of Rosewood Avenue, Aurora, was taken to Provena Mercy Medical Center after a two-car crash at 9:55 a.m. Thursday near New York at North River streets, police said. Nathan Farley of Earlville was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said. No condition report was available.
Isaac Muhammad, 24, 700 block of Gates Street, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving, no driver’s license, no insurance, speeding, improper turn and disobeying a traffic control device at 11:46 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East Galena Boulevard, police said.
Manuel Puga-Ferrer, 24, 700 block of George Avenue, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving, no driver’s license and improper lane use on Thursday at West New York Street and Oak Avenue, police said.
Paul Gallego, 39, 1100 block of Middlebury Drive, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving and disregarding a stop sign at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday near Long Grove and Middlebury drives, police said.
Robert Merriweather, 54, 2000 block of West Illinois Avenue, was charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor domestic battery at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Aurora Police Department, police said.
Jesus Villegas, Jr., 22, 600 block of Manhattan Circle, Oswego, was charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and two charges of unlawful use of a weapon at 10:36 p.m. Wednesday, near Jackson Street and North Avenue, police said.
Juan Rodriguez, 37, of Chicago, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance as well as misdemeanors drunken driving and improper lane use at 2:16 a.m. Thursday near Trask and East New York streets, police said.
Nestor Perez, 22, of Streamwood, was charged with felony burglary at 5 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of West Galena Boulevard, police said.
Brett Hessler, 27, 1200 block of North Elmwood Drive, Aurora, was charged with felony burglary at 10:27 a.m. Saturday near West Indian Trail Court and Mercy Lane, police said.
Guadalupe Olvera, 60, 1000 block of East New York Street, Aurora, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance as well as misdemeanors disregarding a stop sign and failure to obey traffic laws regarding bicycles at 3:10 p.m. Saturday at Grove Street and North Loucks Avenue, police said.
Thomas Mitchell, 40, 1300 block of Garfield Avenue, Aurora, was charged with felony aggravated battery of a peace officer and misdemeanor resisting a peace officer at 2:45 a.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of North Farnsworth Avenue, police said.
