AURORA — Police on Thursday asked for the public’s help in finding a 17-year-old girl who has been missing for four months.
Police said that Maria Sanchez, of the 100 block of North Kendall Street, has been missing since June 11. Sanchez has a history of running away and may be somewhere in Chicago, police said.
According to family members, Maria was supposed to go to a summer driving class at East Aurora High School the morning of June 11, but never showed up. Family members have not heard from her since she went missing, police said.
Sanchez is Hispanic, 5-foot-3, 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said that police do not believe Sanchez is in any danger.
“She is a runaway with a history of running away,” Ferrelli said. “We’ve pretty much exhausted all leads as to where she might be.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora police detectives at 630-256-5500 or their local police.
