MAPLE PARK - The Kane County Sheriff’s Offfice is alerting parents of a suspicious man who approached some children Tuesday near Maple Park.

At about 5:15 p.m., sheriff’s deputies went to 46W440 Beith Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle that pulled into the driveway. Thee driver asked an 8-year-old boy if he wanted a ride, according to the sheriff’s office.

The boy ran to the house and his mother heard the vehicle stop, looked outside and saw the vehicle, though police were unable to find it when they got to the home.

The woman described the vehicle as a maroon 1990s-model 4-door, possibly a hatchback, with a loud muffler. The driver was described as an older man with white hair and glasses, and a “wrinkly” face, according to police.

There were no additional reports in the area, police said.
