Aurora man gets eight years for statutory rape

José M. Ruiz-Ramirez, 33 (d.o.b. 7-24-1979), of the 300 block of North Ohio Street, Aurora, on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, agreed with the Kane County State's Attorney to a sentence of eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to one count of criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony.

An Aurora man was sentenced to eight years in prison for having sexual contact with a teenage girl.
Jose Ruiz-Ramirez, 33, 300 block of North Ohio Street, Aurora, pleaded guilty to criminal sexual assault last week, admitting to having sexual contact with the teenage girl, according to the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
Prosecutors said between July 1 and Nov. 30, 2011, Ruiz-Ramirez had sexual contact with the girl at least 10 times at his home. Ruiz-Ramirez knew the girl, but prosecutors did not specify how they knew each other.
Ruiz-Ramirez will have to register as a sex offender for life, prosecutors said. Ruiz-Ramirez must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence and he was given credit for at least 322 days served in the Kane County jail.
