Plano woman trapped in car for hours after crash

Updated: November 29, 2012 6:29AM

A Plano woman was trapped upside down and suspended from the seatbelt in her car for several hours early Friday after running off the road and rolling over into a ditch, the DeKalb County sheriff’s office said.

Jessica M. Dacy, 26, of the 0-99 block of Woodlawn Drive, was injured in the crash on Sandwich Road north of Chicago Road. She was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where she remained in serious condition Friday, police said.

Police said Dacy lost control of her car as it went around curves on Sandwich Road. She overcorrected and went into a ditch, and her 2007 Dodge Caliber overturned.

The sheriff’s office said that a passerby saw Dacy’s vehicle in the ditch, and stopped to help at around 5:50 a.m.. Deputies did not know for sure how long Dacy had been sitting in the ditch.

Because it was dark out, deputies said the passerby couldn’t gauge the condition of the person in the vehicle, and called for help.

Sandwich police responded to the scene and determined that Dacy was conscious and alert, suspended upside down from her seatbelt. Sandwich Firefighters removed Dacy from the vehicle.

Dacy was charged with improper lane use.
