Aurora Police received a report of a gunshot fired on a playground at an Aurora elementary school Tuesday afternoon.
Police responded to a report of a shot fired at 3:42 p.m. Tuesday at Rollins Elementary School, 950 Kane St., according to Aurora Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli.
A witness reported a group of teenage males fighting on the playground, when another teenage male approached the group of kids and fired a shot in the air, Ferrelli said.
“We did have a report of him firing a shot in the air,” Ferrelli said, but a canvass of the neighborhood did not turn up any shell casings or other evidence that a gun was fired.
The male teenager, who was wearing a red sweatshirt and possibly red shorts, ran Northbound across Fenton Street. The other teenagers ran Northwest toward Smith Street. Police continue to investigate the incident. Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 630-256-5500.
